Skip the Line Burj Khalifa
Burj Khalifa, translating as Khalifa Tower, is a skyscraper located in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The construction was completed in 2009, and the building was officially open in 2010. From the time of its topping out, where the last beam was placed, it has been the world’s tallest structure, holding that record to the present day. It stands at a roof height of 828m, although the antenna on the top increases this even further. Burj Khalifa has been the recipient of a number of awards for its design and architecture.
The tower has been designed in such a way that swaying due to wind has been minimised, mainly by narrowing as it gets taller. The highest point, however, still sways by a total of 1.5 metres. This is the central spire, most of which does not contain useful space, but is the location of the tower’s communications equipment.
The building was originally planned to be entirely residential, but now also contains offices, a hotel, swimming pools and a restaurant. The 123rd and 124th floors are the original indoor and outdoor observation decks. At the time, this was the world’s highest outdoor observation deck. After this record was surpassed in 2011 by the Canton Tower, in China, a new deck was opened on Burj Khalifa’s 148th floor, known as the SKY level.
For those feeling brave enough to experience the 555m high SKY level observation deck, a skip the line ticket will enable you to get there much faster, and for lower prices, than you otherwise would, perhaps before you lose your nerve! On an especially clear day, when the tide is low, it is possible to see all the way to the coastline of Iran, across the Persian Gulf.
